It started it all.
Well, of course, some other artists like Kavinsky and Perturbator are the reasons why synthwave is what it is today, let's give credits where it's due, but THIS right here is the big big gem. Unmistakable, Carpenter Brut made history and part of an entire genre's foundation with this. But you already know that if you're here, right ? Kyotofu
Must-have darksynth classic.
It does have some flaws though : to me, some sections aren't really pushed to their full extent, and it sometimes feels a lil' bit repetitive and lenghty.
BUT ! you have all the good elements of a GosT album : great production, killer sounds, banger rhythms, and the one and only Lord Baalberith...
So all in all, DEFINITELY WORTH IT. (obviously) Kyotofu
If i wanna be completely honest, i was expecting this album to be everything but what it actually is. It's not disappointing by any means (some tracks are seriously great Carpenter Brut's style bangers), but I just don't feel a real evolution, or a change that could've possibly brought more to the synthwave scene. Keeping the 80's horror movie roots is cool and all, but after 3 years of waiting, i really thought there would be "more" to this. Nontheless ! It. is. real nice. Kyotofu
